Anyone For Tennis? is an English original, written by Shane McG in 2007. The English version, published as Tennis Anyone? in US got the Best Children's Book of the Year. This is the Chinese translated version.
It is Tom Foley's 7th birthday and he receives loads of great presents for his birthday - toy aeroplane, toy train and many others. But he also receives a tennis racquet. Tom doesn't know how to play tennis and so he goes around looking for someone who know. None of the people he approaches, (be it his best friend, neighbour, sister, mother) play tennis. Finally Tom's Dad shows him exactly who does plays tennis - Tom himself! And something else, he grows to like it!
Tom was reluctant to try out new things. After trying, Tom realised that it is much easier than expected and he even grow to like it! Through this book, parents can teach their child to get out of their comfort zone and try out new activities and hobbies.
The pictures in this book are really lovely and colourful. This book is available in soft cover, in simplified chinese with no hanyu pinyin.
For reading to a child, this book may suit children of 4 years and above. For self read, we would recommend this book for children above 7.
