Giraffe Can't Dance is an English original, written by Giles Andreae and illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees. More than 1 million copies has been sold. The illustration in this book is really nice and colourful. Young children will love it. This is the Chinese translated version.
The Story
Gerald is a tall and clumsy giraffe who loves to dance. At the annual Jungle Dance contest, all the animals dance so well and when it is his turn, the other animals make fun of him. Despondent, he meets a cricket on his way home who teaches him to listen to the sounds of nature and feel the music. Gerald closes his eyes and his body starts moving. From then on, he starts dancing the most amazing dance. Soon all other animals gather around him and ask him to teach them.
This would be an excellent book for parents to share with their kids about believing in yourself, and about self-esteem - to listen to your inner voice to gain confidence in yourself.
This book is in hard cover. Simplified chinese. There are no hanyu pinyin. For reading to the child, this book may suit children of 4 years old and above. For self read, we would recommend this book for children above 7.
